Hey, I haven't forgotten about this! I let my subscription run out but now I have a new camera I plan to start posting again. We'll see how long this lasts this time, huh?
It's just been a slow week or so, unfortunately. Although were zooming our way further into the year there is still very little sign of any good weather approaching and frankly the overcast days just don't do it for me. Perhaps I need to learn how to use them to my photographic advantage too?
I certainly need more practice with my Canon. What I could kind of do with is a mentor actually! My first DSLR in a world of compacts & mobiles is really confusing me! But I'm looking forward to being able to take good shots, and not be scared of leaving the wrong lens at home. I currently am a little fearful for my Thailand holiday, and it's a little over a month away! What if I take bad photos? ;0;

I have been trying to get out with it though, although my idea of a photo a day quickly disintegrated! Lately the weather's been so cold we had a fair blotch of snow, which is starting to get really aggravating, especially when this time last year we were warm!

I went to watch my friend get a tattoo and got a few snaps as I waited, I quite liked this one with the studio name in the background.

And my last trip out has been Sunday, where the same friend and I went with her boyfriend & chidlet to the Birmingham MCM Expo, we had loads of fun and of course I spent way too much XD Can't resist ComicCon stalls, but how am I supposed to when they sell all the cool geeky things I want! I was particularly pleased with this buy for Mordecai, my car XD

Well, I hope to have more luck over the coming few days for weather and that. Keep an eye out! :]

Saturday was a lot dryer and a lot less queue-y too! We made our way into the arena about 12ish I think and i got a few shots of the place just to show you some of the arena xD
We watcheda couple of bands and wandered the shops a bit, before checking out the band we all wanted to see that day, Tenacious D. They didn't disappoint, put on a really good show and even played a couple of skits with their songs, it was really cool.
I wanted to see a couple of bands after them but after wandering to the other side of the arena I didn't feel like squelching through the mud to get back to the tent i needed to be at, so we left and had drinks & curry night back at the hotel :]

First day of Download we set out at about 10.30, to sit waiting in a queue for about 4 hours, plus another 2 hours we managed to add on by taking a detour down to a shop for lunch. Ah well. the arena was delayed opening cause of the conditions butby the time we were finally parked up about 4.30 most of the rain had stopped and it was just muddy as, luckily we'd all brought gumboots.
Because of the rain I didn't get many pictures today, but here is one of the queue and another of Prodigy who headlined on Friday :]

Today Me, Tony, Ryan and Edward set off for Nottingham! We were staying in a hotel there before going to Download on Friday. It rained all the way there (good sign for going to a festival) so in the afternoon we went Go-Karting to take up some time (and cause Tony LOVES go-karts!) it was fun, though a shame we had to share the track with a family of about 6 so it was a little crowded.
I managed to forget to take a pic of the hotel, but I'll blame that on the rain...also Vernon's sunroof sprung a leak today and we had to bborrow some masking tape from the hotel to try and patch him back up, it seems to have worked for now though!

It was the jubilee yesterday and today when I was up town I noticed they'd set up a display in one of the shops of all the things that were about when the queen came to the throne :]

Easy one today, though it turned out to hard to get to this point and actually get a photo.
Vernon the MG was in luck today! (We actually drove around for an extra 4 miles to watch it turn XD)

Alright time to stop putting this off I suppose before I fall much more behind and spam up your f-lists anymore xp
I didn't get a photo with my proper camera, only with my phone, this one of the Sunset which looked pretty cool while I was in work :]

Today was Tony's birthday! He is 24 today :] Poor sod had to work in the morning, so I wrapped a couple of his presents and then popped into work to do a little paperwork before driving Tony back home.
After unwrapping some presents we went over to a place near Wolves to go to a BBQ over a friend's house :] It was their birthdays too recently so it was like a combined birthday BBQ! The only downside was it was the worst weather we've had in about a month!! Still it was nice to sit around and chat, and here is the firepit where we stayed warm XD
I forgot to take any pics on my camera but this one was taken on my phone :]

I didn't get a chance to get a photo before i left for work today and didn't want to go for the garden shots again XD So I thought i'd get something at work, but nope!
So here is one taken about 11.55pm! You can see our awesome weather has broken too xp

More rushing to work means more photos of the front garden as I run out the door. The garden is looking pretty sweet though :]

Today was dull, like the weather was XD It was the perfect excuse on my day off to sit on the computer all day. Awwww yeah.
Then I ran outside and got a pic of these chives, but other than that, computer x3

I wasn't going to bother with this today but it turned out that me and Dad went to see the Olympic flame passing through our part of the midlands ;p We went to Much Wenlock and it was a really nice street party atmosphere with the sunshine and packed streets, but everyone got a place and waited & cheered at the entourage, it was fun! Much Wenlock is also the town where the games were re-started so it was a good place to be! (Also I'll probably never see the town with this many people again!)
On our way back home we decided to watch it again, and went to the Town Centre where it was passing through. The atmos here wasn't so good, it was a lot busier and people were vying for good space, but I did get to see the flame passed over from one torch to another which was cool :]

I was a little rushed for pictures today and only got the one, a gathering of three empty journals, I'll be picking one of these with a little voting help to use next :] At the moment it's leaning towards the camera book x]

The petunias I planted a week or so ago are starting to really enjoy being in the ground I think x3

Today i mostly spent around the garden, except for going t pick Dad up a little later, he came back from Thailand today :]
Although he was pretty tired we sorted the entire front garden and cleaned up the spring flower stems that were still around, the whole place looks a lot tidier now :]
Annnyway, we've got another .gif under the cut and a few pics of a night trip we took to Shrews where we stopped at the cathedral so I could get some pictures x3

So distracted today )

I didn't get up to a lot today, tidying around the house then playing on the garden some. I cleaned out the degus in the evening when Tony was back, then it turned out he didn't have to go back into work so we went for a little trip out to a pub ext to the river to watch it get dark and the mayflies flit around :]
Oh yeah, I've got a .gif of the progression of the garden through the day too x3

I should've gone to the beach today. But I didn't think of it til about 1.30 so instead i went a lot of other places instead.
It was the only day this week me & Tony have had off together so we went to the abandoned barracks near Whitchurch. I hadn't shown Tony the pics I took last time I was there so it would be a surprise XD It was alright but since last time some sod has cut up the awesome car that was in one of the hangars :/ I was really disappointed actually.
Whitchurch we mostly passed by, I couldn't remember what was so great about it and we ended up at the canal to eat some lunch. I'm sure I'll remember in a couple of days time what makes Whitchurch cool.
We went home even though it was still earlyish as Tony was getting ill out in the sun so I dropped him off and went out by myself. I couldn't stand to think of another day around the house in such lovely weather.
I did the obligatory Shropshire tour before deciding where to go, which turned out to be Bridgenorth via a pet shop & garden centre. In Bridgo I waded out into the river onto the central stones and skipped rocks for ages. There's loads of pottery washed downstream from Coalport that is perfect for skipping.
I was going to then tow Tony out to a pub in near Shrewsbury that is on a river bank, but just as we were about to go he got called into work :/ One of the chefs there was really ill and had to go home, leaving only the commis who can't (/shouldn't) cook meat, so FAIL. I ended up going back home by myself and reading for a while before playing with this bunting I bought x3 I'm not sure dad will like it but I dooo~
Today has been a weird mix, so here are a ton of pics to go with my ton of writing :]

Loads of opportunities for pics today )

Another super hot day, and the start to my mini-holiday! I booked these days off work and the weather has turned out perfectly!
I played about on the lawn with the dragons for the first half of the day, then when Tony came home Ryan was with him so we all went over the park and played with a ball & frisbee til we nearly died of hot XD
We picked up Tony's car from Shrews, where he had been having the gearbox changed for a manual, then when and got epic salad stuff and ate in the garden x3 We stayed out there til about 10! (though we did move things out the back when we got sick of the local kids staring at us...)

Watch us have no sun in August now... )

Last day walking to work. I didn't have a lot of time today, but it was still all to myself so I got busy tiding everything in the house and garden. I thought i was going to be away for a couple of days but it turned out not to be so it was quite a lot of work I could've spaced out over a couple of days. Oh well.

That glass thing again )
thylaylii: (Default)

I've had to walk to work for the past couple of days as Tony has needed the car in Shrewsbury. It's lucky is really sunny lately.
I used to love taking photos of this building when I first had a film camera.
