So, Dad kinda covered today in his LJ but here goes for another brief run down of the day...
I got up early and when Garry came over too we left for Carding Mill Valley. It was a lovely day, so sunny and warm (finally, summer!) and we signed up for the 11'o'clock trip. While we waited we hung about on a log that was sat in the sun, listening to the stream, I really like Carding mill X3 We went back to join the group at 11 and got talked at by the guide quite a bit. Even though what she was saying very actually really interesting, I was feeling a little too tired to stand in the sun ;x Eventually we got to the door in the hill which I remembered from various trips & walks on previous visits. The tunnel hadn't been opened to the public before & it was 120 (I think?) years old.
We got to go in the first group and the tunnel was really mucky XD Luckily we had taken our gumboots, some other people still had sandals on, bet they were regretting that XD There wasn't actually much to see, the rusty pipe I have a pic of was pretty much it, and you could crawl along it if you wanted to get dirty and look at a ladder which leads up to the middle of the reservoir, but we weren't actually allowed to climb it which we had thought at the beginning of the trip.
We then went on a walk around the reservoir & followed an old pipe which used to pipe water down the valley. It was a good walk with nice sunshine & I got a lot more pics than I put up here ;p When the walk was over we were back at the car so we nipped into town for lunch then came back and ate in the valley, then messed in the stream building a dam a bit, then we left after about an hour and went into the next valley for a look. After a quick mooch we went for a drive on top of the Long Mynd, where Garry wanted to watch some planes fly off from the strip at the top & I fell asleep in some bracken XD It was comfy!! I took a bunch of scenery pics up there too (really want a panoramic camera now!) and then it was time to go home.
