Today I didn't know what to do, so as a sort of get going idea I decided to go to Ironbridge and try to find an old park that's there but I don't remember exactly where...anyway, I got distracted on the drive there by thinking about the new Lincoln Grange (old people's home) and wondering what they'd done to the old one, so I went there instead.
They had built big green fence gates on the entrance to the road & archway so I couldn't drive round like I'd planned, so instead I parked near the arch. As I was thinking I'd go get some bark off a tree for the gerbs (remember that Jen? ;D) a security guard came up to us. I said I was just there to see what had happened to the place and I hung around it a lot when I was younger, and he said he'd let me & Tony in if I liked, I just couldn't go in the buildings! I thought that was so cool, so he let us in to go explore.
I looked about the buildings first, they actually have quite nice architechure if you're just looking at it, and then I got to the greenhouse which I actually wanted to see most x3 It was so abandoned feeling, so sad thinking about how much there was there when we used to come, but someone was still using it a bit, there were small tomato & chilli pepper plants in there too, as well as both the grape vines, which had so many ripe grapes on! The big plant pot that I had to grow things in was still there, and still had the holly & small hedge bush I put it in them! They were very unruly now though ;D I looked in the messy garden to the side too, which still has a chicken coop, but is still mostly full of brambles, big untamed bushes & teasles.
The security guard came around then, he had an alsatian puppy who was soft as anything who he was walking, she was soooo cute! We talked a little, then I went round the other side of the building. I looked through one of the windows where I knew a ward was but it had all been cleaned out except a gerny (sp?) and a tiny coffee table. Tony was a bit spooked by the whole place and didn't want to look through the windows, but it always felt a bit like that to me so I wasn't worried XD Anyway, that was about it really. It was really cool to explore the place a little, later we thought maybe the security guard let us in cause he was a bit afraid of the place too and liked to have someone else there so he could walk his pup XD
So much blah! Here are some pics for you, I mostly got ones of the greenhouse & gardens we spent so much time around :]

on 2009-09-15 01:36 pm (UTC)It is a shame they didnt take the greenhouse, they also didn't take a bunch of memorial benches, they were left where the tetherball used to be, which I thought was quite sad too. If lincoln is still standing when you come over next year we'll have to see if we can get in again!
